[acronym] Magazine Launches the First Ever Public Sector CAD Awards

New Contest Recognizes and Promotes Excellence in Public Sector Digital Design Innovation

HERNDON, Va. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 20, 2011 — [acronym] Magazine, the only print publication and online community dedicated to those in the government working within the CAD, GIS, architecture, manufacturing, and engineering disciplines, today launched the [acronym] Magazine Public Sector CAD Awards.

This new innovation contest is the first of its kind that challenges federal, state and local government agencies to share the creative ways they have used digital design/CAD software to improve the performance of their agency and enhance the delivery of citizen-centric services.

Focused on giving public sector organizations the opportunity to gain recognition, foster innovation and share their achievements across the government community, the program will honor winners at an award luncheon and showcase winning entries at www.acronymonline.org and in the media.

“Digital design is changing the business of government from rural towns and cities to the heart of Washington, D.C.,” said Caron Beesley, Editor, [acronym] Magazine. “In fact, CAD-based visualization and simulation tools play a key role in the planning, design, construction and management of key infrastructure projects and the many programs and services that the public expects.”

With this in mind, the [acronym] Magazine CAD Awards will be looking for nominations that show how a particular digital design application has made an impact on the government community. The distinguished panel of judges includes:

  • Tom Temin, Anchor and Columnist, Federal News Radio 1500 AM
  • Pam Broviak, City Engineer/Assistant Director of Public Works - City of Geneva, Illinois
  • Tim Karney, Founding Publisher, Emergency Management Magazine
  • Bryan Cowles, Applications Specialist, IMAGINiT Technologies
  • Tom Trezza Jr, President Trezza Media Group
  • Scott Eden, Vice President Government Sales, CADD Microsystems

The submission process is easy – just use our online nomination form to describe the challenge or problem your agency sought to overcome, what has been accomplished with the application of digital design/CAD technology, successes achieved, and the overall impact on your agency! The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2011. The awards are open to federal, state and local government organizations, as well as the contractors that support them.

[acronym] will announce the winners at an awards event in Washington, D.C. in early November.
